Quantas, June 2007
Tilonia BlockprintBlockprinting is an ancient tradition -- evidence has been found of blockprinted fabrics dating back to 2000 BC -- that was fast disappearing due to mechanized production. In 1975, the Barefoot College began promoting crafts to address this problem of under-employment. Tilonia sources its blockprinted fabrics in Bagru from two brothers, Hanuman and Ganesh. Each one runs a blocking printing business using traditional dyes and handcarved blocks.
Tilonia's Duvet Sets are hand sewn by women artisans of the
Barefoot College in Tilonia, Rajasthan, India from blockprinted fabrics hand printed by blockprinters of Bagru in rural Rajasthan.
