Managing an Online Enterprise

Since 2003, in partnership with the US-based, Friends of Tilonia, Inc., the Barefoot College has operated this online enterprise for the sale and marketing of the Tilonia® product line of handcrafted, artisan- produced home textiles, womenʼs accessories and gifts.

More than 400 artisans, most of them women, earn supplemental income through sewing, needlework, embroidery, tie-dying, block printing and weaving. Designs and production methods draw on Indian craft traditions that are centuries old – but create modern opportunities for these rural women.

Kailash and Pokhar plan production of the Tilonia Home bedding collection. The cotton fabric used in the collection is printed by hand using traditional wooden blocks. Block printing is a centuries old technique handed down by generations of block printers in Rajasthan.



Ganeshi prepares a package for one of Tilonia's international customers. Much of our product inventory is stocked in Tilonia and shipped directly to our customers from India.

Our Money Back Guarantee to Our Customers

We appreciate your business and want you to enjoy the handcrafted items you purchase from Tilonia. Whenever you are not satisfied with an item you have purchased from our store, you may return the item to us for any reason. We will exchange the item or refund the cost of the merchandise. For US customers wishing to exchange an item, we will pay for shipping the item to our US return address and for shipping the exchange item to you. That's our commitment to you to ensure that you are a satisfied customer when you shop at Tilonia.

Shipping Delivery Options within the US

Items in inventory in our US offices may be shipped using US Postal Service or FedEx Ground. Items in inventory in our India stockroom will be shipped via international express mail. There is no additional charge for US customers for this express mail shipment, however a signature is required for delivery.

International express mail packages are tracked and we will provide you with the tracking number once your order has shipped. Typically, packages take 7 to 10 business days to reach the US, however during the holiday season, deliveries may take considerably longer.

International express mail packages require a signature for delivery. If the package is not signed for or picked up at the US Post Office, the package is returned to India within 5 business days. Customers asking for a reshipment of a package returned by the US Postal Service will be charged for the reshipment.

Your online order will be confirmed via email and you will be notified of any items in your order which are not currently in stock. If an item is not available, we will offer you alternatives that are.

• International orders are shipped via international express mail service to countries other than the US or Canada at 15% of order. All international sales are final as we accept returns only in the US.

Orders are shipped at buyer's own risk via international express mail. UK customers should be aware that we have experienced some lost packages in delivery to the UK.

Returns Policy

US customers may return an item for exchange or refund for any reason. When you return an item, please make your return within 30 days of your purchase and indicate the reason for your return. We will exchange the item or refund the cost of the merchandise. For US customers wishing to exchange an item, we will pay for shipping the item to our US return address and for shipping the exchange item to you. If you paid for your order by credit card, a credit will be issued and will appear on your billing statement once we have received your returned item. Return any items to Friends of Tilonia, Inc. at the Customer Service address below.

Our goal is to provide you with outstanding service, however, we are unable to refund your purchase if we do not receive the item you are returning or if there is no proof of delivery. USPS offers an inexpensive proof of delivery service. You may also wish to insure your item to cover any loss or damage during return delivery. When you return an item to us, please notify us at shop@tilonia.com.
